Michael Bauer is professor of anesthesiology and critical care and chief-executive director of the Center for Sepsis Control Care (CSCC) at Jena University Hospital. He received his MD from Saarland University Medical School and received post-graduate training in molecular biology at Johns Hopkins University (1993–1995). After board certification in anesthesiology and critical care, he was visiting professor at the Dept. of Biology at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte (1998-1999). Dr. Bauer published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers in the fields of molecular mechanisms and systems biology of sepsis and shock-related organ dysfunction.
