Prof. Philipp Schuetz was born in Switzerland and is a board-certified internist and endocrinologist. He obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) at the Harvard School of Public Health Boston while doing clinical research at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). He currently has a professorship from the Swiss National Foundation and works clinically at the Medical University department at the Kantonsspital Aarau in the emergency department and the Endocrine unit; and is in charge of clinical studies focusing on clinical nutrition (EFFORT), as well as on improved triage and management of patients throughout their hospital stay with the use of novel biomarkers particularly procalcitonin. He has published >150 articles in high-impact journals including JAMA, the Lancet, JAMA Internal Medicine including randomized trials looking at antibiotic stewardship (ProHOSP).
